This past Thursday, October 3rd I attended The New Pornographers show with special guest Lady Lamb at The Majestic Theatre. The band began to enter the stage and the crowd cheered as each artist became visible. Carl Newman started off the evening by letting the crowd know he was just recently informed that Stereolab and another band Newman enjoys happened to be in town on this night - to which he said he was surprised anyone showed up to the show since they were in town. Of course, Newman was saying this to a respectfully large audience in attendance at the theatre this weeknight. The entire performance was flawless, every instrument and artist working together like a well-oiled machine. Watching the New Pornographers is a delight - with such a wide-array of instruments and talents one might even say it's similar to watching an orchestra performing. The evening was cloaked in 'cool' lighting filling the air with a chill vibe with the blues, purples, pinks and greens. The Pornographers played a few jams from their back-catalogue that Newman said they hadn't played in years to the crowds pleasure and surprise.
